ARTIST STATEMENT

Hi,  My  name  is  Kevin  Ramlakhan  and  I  am  a  filmmaker.  The  movie  that inspire me was  Back  to  the  Future  starring  Michael J. Fox  and  Christopher  Lloyd.  Back  to the  Future was directed  by   filmmaker  Robert  Zemeckis.  Zemeckis  told  an  unbelievable  story on film  about  a teenager name  Marty  McFly  (Fox) traveling back in time  to the  year 1955  from  1985 by a time machine created by crazy scientist name Doc Brown (Lloyd).  Zemeckis created great characters and show  how one event from the past can affect your future. Back to the Future was so creative as  a child  my  imagination was running wild thinking it would be so cool to one day make a movie like Back to the Future and tell a great story like Robert  Zemeckis.
Growing  up  as  a  kid  you only  thinking  about  how  you  hate  going  to  school  and just want to have fun and hang out with your friends. Believe it  or  not  you  get  ideas  from  life experiences that can help you become a better filmmaker  or  be better at any job/ career  for  that matter. I was always fascinated by film technology to me its was always so cool. The first time, I played with my  dad's  camcorder.   Yes, it was the big one from 1980's actually fooling around making short movies that made no sense.  The  VCR was another cool technology, oh yes remembering taking blank VHS tapes recording my favorite movies and  TV  shows  illegally for my own collection  then again everybody use to do that. It was the stone age of technology but, it was really fun. My passion and inspiration of being a filmmaker is strong as ever.  Now a days you have smart phones and photo cameras that are so advance in film technology anybody could make a movie in palm of their hands as technology changes being a filmmaker for me will never change.
I  have  an  associates degree in  theater  from  BMCC  learning all aspects of entertainment and currently pursuing my Bachelor's degree in film at  Hunter  College.  My  Goal is  to become a better filmmaker and learn as much as i can so one day i can bring my own ideas and stories to life in  movies and TV shows  or  any form of entertainment.
